I am Lakota but not enrolled. The most important thing to know about me is that I am an Auntie of about 24 nieces and nephews, all of whom I’m making dance clothes for pow-wow. I have also been a foster parent for The American Indian Child Resource Center.
I have my Masters Degree in Interdiciplinary Studies from Oregon State University. Discipline areas include: Cultural Anthropology, Human Development and Family Studies and Women’s Studies. My Masters Thesis focussed on Cultural Transmission in Urban American Indian Families. My Bachelors degree is in American Studies with an emphasis in Ethnic Studies and a minor in English Literature. I teach at a number of locations including: Sacramento City College; California State University, Sacramento; Cosumnes River College; and the UC Davis Extension. Two courses that I love to teach and I actually wrote curriculum for are: Introduction to Native American Studies (Social Science 335) and Native American Culture and the Impact of Federal Policy (Social Science 336), both offered at Sacramento City College.
